January 2019 Minutes


LWES SBDM JANUARY - 2019
LAKEWOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
JANUARY 14, 2019    

Mrs. Clark called the meeting of the Lakewood School Council to order.  Council members present were Lori Howlett, Michelle Masterson, Kathie Hamilton, Chris Spears, Curtis Nall and Shelee Clark.
I.                    ORDER #FY19 – 1344 – APPROVAL OF AGENDA – Council agreed by consensus to approve the agenda.
ORDER #FY19 – 1345 – APPROVAL OF MINUTES – Council agreed by consensus to approve the minutes of the December 10, 2018 regular meeting.
The December holiday meal was attended by many.  Lakewood has three additional staff members that are Google-certified educators.  Students and staff enjoyed the Leader in Me In-House Field Trip.            
II.                  The December  budget report was reviewed and accepted.  The December accident report was reviewed and accepted.  No committee reports were available at this time.  The Curriculum & Instruction committee conducted writing folder checks.  Council reviewed the Brigance kindergarten readiness data.  Council also reviewed the bylaw concerning agendas.
III.                ORDER #FY19 - 1346 – WRITING POLICY SECOND READ – Council agreed by consensus to approve the second read of the Writing Policy. 
IV.                The next regular meeting will be Monday,  February 11, 2019 at 4:00 pm at Lakewood conference room.  Kathie Hamilton will serve as facilitator, Chris Spears as resource person and Curtis Nall as scribe.

December 2018 Minutes


LWES SBDM DECEMBER -  2018
LAKEWOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
DECEMBER 10, 2018  

Mrs. Clark called the meeting of the Lakewood School Council to order.  Council members present were Lori Howlett, Michelle Masterson, Kathie Hamilton, Chris Spears and Shelee Clark.
I.                    ORDER #FY19 – 1338 – APPROVAL OF AGENDA – Council agreed by consensus to approve the agenda.
ORDER #FY19 – 1339 – APPROVAL OF MINUTES – Council agreed by consensus to approve the minutes of the November 12, 2018 regular meeting.
The December holiday meal is scheduled for December 19.  Hour of code week will be celebrated at Lakewood.  Both preschool classes scored above district average in the ECERS 3 preschool scores.  Winter MAP testing is in progress.          
II.                  The November  budget report was reviewed and accepted.  The November accident report was reviewed and accepted.  Several committee reports were reviewed and accepted.  These included Assessment, Curriculum & Instruction, Learning Environment and Efficiency committees.  All committees also conducted CSIP working sessions.
III.                ORDER #FY19 – 1340 – CSIP REVIEW AND APPROVAL – Council officially reviewed and approved the CSIP.
ORDER #FY19 - 1341 – WRITING POLICY FIRST READ – Council agreed by consensus to approve the first read of the Writing Policy. 
ORDER #FY19 1342 – ESS PLAN APPROVAL – Council agreed by consensus to approve  the ESS Plan.  
Council discussed the Title I annual review.
IV.                The next regular meeting will be Monday,  January 14, 2019 at 4:00 pm at Lakewood conference room.  Curtis Nall will serve as facilitator, Lori Howlett as resource person and Michelle Masterson as scribe.

November 2018 Minutes


LWES SBDM NOVEMBER -  2018
LAKEWOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
NOVEMBER 12, 2018 

Mr. Spears called the meeting of the Lakewood School Council to order.  Council members present were Lori Howlett, Michelle Masterson, Kathie Hamilton and Chris Spears.
I.                    ORDER #FY19 – 1334 – APPROVAL OF AGENDA – Council agreed by consensus to approve the agenda.
ORDER #FY19 – 1335 – APPROVAL OF MINUTES – Council agreed by consensus to approve the minutes of the October 8, 2018 regular meeting.
Lakewood has achieved PBIS Bronze status.  One Lakewood student placed second at the state art contest in 3-dimensional art.  One student earned honorable mention in the environmental emoji poster contest.  Three students earned awards in the Honeyfest art contest.  Pam Serpico passed Level 2 Google Educator certification.  Joe Cecil has an art exhibit at ECTC’s Morrison Gallery.  Lori Howlett led a successful Veteran’s Day program.  Chuck Jewell has received a grant from the CKCF for materials in the music classroom.          
II.                  The September and October  budget reports were reviewed and accepted.  The October accident report was reviewed and accepted.
III.                ORDER #FY19 – 1336 – SCHOOL REPORT CARD APPROVAL – Council officially reviewed and approved the school report card.    
IV.                The next regular meeting will be Monday,  December 10, 2018 at 4:00 pm at Lakewood conference room.  Curtis Nall will serve as facilitator, Chris Spears as resource person and Kathie Hamilton as scribe.

LAKEWOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
OCTOBER 8, 2018       

Mrs. Clark called the meeting of the Lakewood School Council to order.  Council members present were Lori Howlett, Michelle Masterson, Kathie Hamilton,  Curtis Nall, Chris Spears and Shelee Clark.
I.                    ORDER #FY19 – 1330 – APPROVAL OF AGENDA – Council agreed by consensus to approve the agenda.
ORDER #FY19 – 1331 – APPROVAL OF MINUTES – Council agreed by consensus to approve the minutes of the August 13, 2018 regular meeting.
The Parent Teacher Team raised over $3000 from the Fall Festival.  Chuck Jewell has been named president-elect of 4th district KMEA.  Lakewood’s finance audit received no comments.          
II.                  Council had an in-depth discussion and study of the state assessment data which included a Target Support Improvement (TSI) power point.  The projected proficiency summary report for MAP data was also discussed.
III.                The Lakewood Writing Policy has been sent to committee for revisions to meet new state requirements.
IV.                The August  budget report was reviewed and accepted.  Committee reports were reviewed and accepted.  These included Efficiency, Assessment and Learning Environment committees. August and September accident reports were reviewed and accepted.
V.                  ORDER #FY19 – 1332 - CONSULTATION TO HIRE – Council officially consulted to hire Debbie Anderson as part-time ESS tutor.
VI.                Council discussed Closing the Achievement Gap Diagnostic.  Then council also conferred about the continuous improvement diagnostic for submission.  
VII.              The next regular meeting will be Monday,  November 12, 2018 at 4:00 pm at Lakewood conference room.  Lori Howlett will serve as facilitator, Michelle Masterson as resource person and Curtis Nall as scribe.
