LWES SBDM OCTOBER -  2017
LAKEWOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
OCTOBER 9, 2017       

Mrs. Clark called the meeting of the Lakewood School Council to order.  Council members present were Lori Howlett, Michelle Masterson, Kathie Hamilton and Shelee Clark.
I.                    ORDER #FY18 – 1276 – APPROVAL OF AGENDA – Council agreed by consensus to approve the agenda.
ORDER #FY18 – 1277 – APPROVAL OF MINUTES – Council agreed by consensus to approve the minutes of the September 11, 2017 regular meeting.
Students enjoyed Breakfast with Moms with a lot of parent involvement.  ESS is off to a good start serving multiple students.  Central office provided a pizza lunch for the custodians in appreciation for their excellent work throughout the building and grounds.  Council agreed with several positive comments.  The Watchdog program is in full swing that involves dads volunteering at Lakewood.  Students enjoyed ROARSOME Day with numerous club choices.  Mr. Joe Cecil received third place in the art educator exhibit at the KYAEA art conference.  Lakewood students received a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place award in  kindergarten-2. Grades 3-5 also received a first and second place.  Congratulations to Mr. Cecil and all those who participated.        
II.                  Council discussed in detail the state assessment data and MAP data. 
III.                The September budget and accident reports were reviewed and accepted.  Council reviewed and accepted several committee reports.  These included the Curriculum & Instruction, Efficiency and  Assessment committees.
IV.                 ORDER #FY18 – 1278 –DISCIPLINE & CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT POLICY FIRST READ – Council agreed by consensus to approve the first read of the Discipline & Classroom Management Policy.
ORDER #FY18 – 1279 –  PARENT & FAMILY ENGAGEMENT POLICY FIRST READ – Council agreed by consensus to approve the first read of the Parent & Family Engagement Policy.
The Writing Policy and Instructional Practices Policy were both sent back to committee for further review.
V.                   The next regular meeting will be Monday, November 13, 2017 at 4:00 pm at Lakewood conference room. Michelle Masterson will serve as facilitator, Chris Spears as resource person and Marlinda Lush  as scribe. 
ORDER #FY18 – 1280 – ADJOURNMENT – Meeting was adjourned by consensus of council.
