November 2018 Minutes


LWES SBDM NOVEMBER -  2018
LAKEWOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
NOVEMBER 12, 2018 

Mr. Spears called the meeting of the Lakewood School Council to order.  Council members present were Lori Howlett, Michelle Masterson, Kathie Hamilton and Chris Spears.
I.                    ORDER #FY19 – 1334 – APPROVAL OF AGENDA – Council agreed by consensus to approve the agenda.
ORDER #FY19 – 1335 – APPROVAL OF MINUTES – Council agreed by consensus to approve the minutes of the October 8, 2018 regular meeting.
Lakewood has achieved PBIS Bronze status.  One Lakewood student placed second at the state art contest in 3-dimensional art.  One student earned honorable mention in the environmental emoji poster contest.  Three students earned awards in the Honeyfest art contest.  Pam Serpico passed Level 2 Google Educator certification.  Joe Cecil has an art exhibit at ECTC’s Morrison Gallery.  Lori Howlett led a successful Veteran’s Day program.  Chuck Jewell has received a grant from the CKCF for materials in the music classroom.          
II.                  The September and October  budget reports were reviewed and accepted.  The October accident report was reviewed and accepted.
III.                ORDER #FY19 – 1336 – SCHOOL REPORT CARD APPROVAL – Council officially reviewed and approved the school report card.    
IV.                The next regular meeting will be Monday,  December 10, 2018 at 4:00 pm at Lakewood conference room.  Curtis Nall will serve as facilitator, Chris Spears as resource person and Kathie Hamilton as scribe.

LWES SBDM OCTOBER -  2018
LAKEWOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
OCTOBER 8, 2018       

Mrs. Clark called the meeting of the Lakewood School Council to order.  Council members present were Lori Howlett, Michelle Masterson, Kathie Hamilton,  Curtis Nall, Chris Spears and Shelee Clark.
I.                    ORDER #FY19 – 1330 – APPROVAL OF AGENDA – Council agreed by consensus to approve the agenda.
ORDER #FY19 – 1331 – APPROVAL OF MINUTES – Council agreed by consensus to approve the minutes of the August 13, 2018 regular meeting.
The Parent Teacher Team raised over $3000 from the Fall Festival.  Chuck Jewell has been named president-elect of 4th district KMEA.  Lakewood’s finance audit received no comments.          
II.                  Council had an in-depth discussion and study of the state assessment data which included a Target Support Improvement (TSI) power point.  The projected proficiency summary report for MAP data was also discussed.
III.                The Lakewood Writing Policy has been sent to committee for revisions to meet new state requirements.
IV.                The August  budget report was reviewed and accepted.  Committee reports were reviewed and accepted.  These included Efficiency, Assessment and Learning Environment committees. August and September accident reports were reviewed and accepted.
V.                  ORDER #FY19 – 1332 - CONSULTATION TO HIRE – Council officially consulted to hire Debbie Anderson as part-time ESS tutor.
VI.                Council discussed Closing the Achievement Gap Diagnostic.  Then council also conferred about the continuous improvement diagnostic for submission.  
VII.              The next regular meeting will be Monday,  November 12, 2018 at 4:00 pm at Lakewood conference room.  Lori Howlett will serve as facilitator, Michelle Masterson as resource person and Curtis Nall as scribe.

LAKEWOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
AUGUST 13, 2018      

Mrs. Clark called the meeting of the Lakewood School Council to order.  Council members present were Lori Howlett, Michelle Masterson, Kathie Hamilton,  Curtis Nall, Chris Spears and Shelee Clark.
I.                    ORDER #FY19 – 1325 – APPROVAL OF AGENDA – Council agreed by consensus to approve the agenda.
ORDER #FY19 – 1326 – APPROVAL OF MINUTES – Council agreed by consensus to approve the minutes of the July 9, 2018 regular meeting.
Open house was very successful.  Many parents and students attended to start off the new school year.          
II.                  All SBDM members are in the process of receiving their training.  MAP testing begins August 15.
III.                The July budget report was reviewed and accepted.  Committee reports were reviewed and accepted.  These included Efficiency, Curriculum & Instruction, Assessment and Learning Environment committees.
IV.                Council conducted the annual review of the Safety and Emergency Plan.                                                                                                  
V.                   ORDER #FY19 – 1327 - CONSULTATION TO HIRE – Council officially consulted to hire Shannon Edlin to fill the Read to Achieve teacher vacancy.
VI.                ORDER #FY19 – 1328 – TITLE I 2018-2019 PLAN AND BUDGET APPROVAL – Council agreed by consensus to approve the 2018-2019 Title I Plan and Budget.
VII.              The next regular meeting will be Monday,  September 10, 2018 at 4:00 pm at Lakewood conference room.  Chris Spears will serve as facilitator, Kathie Hamilton as resource person and Lori Howlett as scribe.

LAKEWOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
JULY 9, 2018      

Mrs. Clark called the meeting of the Lakewood School Council to order.  Council members present were Lori Howlett, Michelle Masterson, Kathie Hamilton,  Curtis Nall and Shelee Clark.
I.                    ORDER #FY19 – 1319 – APPROVAL OF AGENDA – Council agreed by consensus to approve the agenda.
ORDER #FY19 – 1320 – APPROVAL OF MINUTES – Council agreed by consensus to approve the minutes of the June 18, 2018 regular meeting.
There are several good news reports.  A very successful fairytale STEM camp was hosted by Lakewood June 25-29.  Lakewood received a $500 Central KY Education Foundation grant to purchase engineering curriculum for the Discovery Lab.  Ed Camp will be August 1 at Lakewood.  One item of discussion will be the vision statement.  First day of school for students will be August 9.  Open house will be August 2 and the theme for the school year will be major league leaders.          
II.                  Several items were discussed in new member orientation.  CSIP and access to policies online were included.  Member training was also discussed.
III.                The June budget report was reviewed and accepted.  The 2017-2018 end of year financial report was also reviewed and accepted.  No committee reports were available.
IV.                The meeting time for the 2018-2019 year will remain on the second Monday of each month at 4:00 pm at Lakewood.  Chris Spears will serve as vice-chairperson.  Members signed forms for electronic mail notification of special meetings.  SBDM member requirements were  discussed.  Freedom of speech and religious freedom laws were discussed.  Duty under the law and open records and open meetings law was also discussed.                                                                                                       
V.                   ORDER #FY19 – 1321 - CONSULTATION TO HIRE – Council officially consulted to hire Christy Catron to fill the 4th grade certified vacancy.
VI.                ORDER #FY19 – 1322 – ESS PROGRAM EVALUATION APPROVAL – Council agreed by consensus to approve the ESS program evaluation.
ORDER #FY19 – 1323 –DRESS CODE POLICY SECOND READ – Council agreed by consensus to approve the second read of the Dress Code Policy.
VII.              The next regular meeting will be Monday,  August 13, 2018 at 4:00 pm at Lakewood conference room.  Michelle Masterson will serve as facilitator, Chris Spears as resource person and Curtis Nall as scribe.

LAKEWOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
JUNE 18, 2018   

Mrs. Clark called the meeting of the Lakewood School Council to order.  Council members present were Lori Howlett, Michelle Masterson, Kathie Hamilton,  Marlinda Lush and Shelee Clark.
I.                    ORDER #FY18 – 1310 – APPROVAL OF AGENDA – Council agreed by consensus to approve the agenda.
ORDER #FY18 – 1311 – APPROVAL OF MINUTES – Council agreed by consensus to approve the minutes of the May 14, 2018 regular meeting.
There are several good news reports.  Lakewood families enjoyed a Spring Fling with numerous activities for participation.  Other important days included Field Day and Awards Day.  Mrs. Clark announced that Christy Abel has received a Walmart Grant for $1125.  Several Lakewood teachers are presenting at various conferences this summer.  These teachers include Iesha Eaton, Sarah Newton, Kathie Hamilton, Stacey Hughes and Angela Stevenson.           
II.                  Council studied the spring MAP test results focusing on growth and proficiency.
III.                Parent representatives for SBDM for 2018-2019 will be Michelle Masterson and Curtis Nall.  Training dates are June 20 or June 22.    
IV.                The May budget report was reviewed and accepted.  May accident report was reviewed and
 accepted.  The March and April Assessment Committee reports were also reviewed and accepted.                                                                                                        
V.                   ORDER #FY18 – 1312 - CONSULTATION TO HIRE – Council officially consulted to hire Debra Gregory as part time instructional assistant.
VI.                ORDER #FY18 – 1313 – 2017-2018 TITLE I BUDGET AMENDMENTS – Council agreed by consensus to approve the 2017-2018 Title I budget amendments.
ORDER #FY18 – 1314 – 2018-2019 PARENT AND FAMILY ENGAGEMENT  POLICY SECOND READ – Council agreed by consensus to approve the second read of the 2018-2019 Parent  and Family Engagement  Policy.
ORDER #FY18 1315 – DISCIPLINE POLICY SECOND READ – Council agreed by consensus to approve the second read of the Discipline Policy.
ORDER #FY18 – 1316 – 2018-2019 ESS BUDGET APPROVAL – Council agreed by consensus to approve the 2018-2019 ESS budget.
ORDER #FY18 – 1317 –DRESS CODE POLICY FIRST READ – Council agreed by consensus to approve the first read of the Dress Code Policy.
Council looked at class configurations for 2018-2019.

LWES SBDM MAY -  2018
LAKEWOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
MAY 14, 2018   

Mrs. Clark called the meeting of the Lakewood School Council to order.  Council members present were Lori Howlett, Michelle Masterson, Kathie Hamilton,  Marlinda Lush, Chris Spears and Shelee Clark.
I.                    ORDER #FY18 – 1303 – APPROVAL OF AGENDA – Council agreed by consensus to approve the agenda.
ORDER #FY18 – 1304 – APPROVAL OF MINUTES – Council agreed by consensus to approve the minutes of the March 12, 2018 regular meeting.
There are several good news reports.  Fifth grade students enjoyed their class trip. Several students participated in the Lakewood Talent Show.  KPREP awards were presented to students.  Fifth grade students volunteered at Feeding America.  First grade students visited nursing home residents.  Lisa Jeffries has been awarded a chromebook cart grant.  GEMS and K/1 students presented a Spring concert.  Numerous student-led conferences have been conducted.  Lakewood student Carter Rinehart received fourth place in the ECTC spelling bee.  Congratulations to Carter.           
II.                  KPREP window begins today.  Spring MAP testing results will be available at next meeting.  SBDM parent elections will be held May 21-23.  SBDM training will be June 22.  Council agreed to renew KASC membership.    
III.                The March and April budget reports were reviewed and accepted.  March and April accident
 reports were also reviewed and accepted.  Committee reports available at this time were Efficiency, Curriculum & Instruction and Learning Environment.  These were all reviewed and accepted.                                                                                                        
IV.                 ORDER #FY18 – 1305 - CONSULTATION TO HIRE – Council officially consulted to hire John Holder as second shift custodian.
V.                  ORDER #FY18 – 1306 – 2017-2018 TITLE I BUDGET AMENDMENTS – Council agreed by consensus to approve the 2017-2018 Title I budget amendments.
ORDER #FY18 – 1307 – 2018-2019 PARENT INVOLVEMENT POLICY FIRST READ – Council agreed by consensus to approve the first read of the 2018-2019 Parent Involvement Policy.
ORDER #FY18 1308 – DISCIPLINE POLICY FIRST READ – Council agreed by consensus to approve the first read of the Discipline Policy.
