November 2019 Minutes


                                      LWES SBDM NOVEMBER - 2019
           LAKEWOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
        NOVEMBER 11, 2019  

Mrs. Clark called the meeting of the Lakewood School Council to order.  Council members present were  Kathie Hamilton, Danielle Linder, Angela Pike  and Shelee Clark.
I.                    ORDER #FY20 – 1390 – APPROVAL OF AGENDA – Council agreed by consensus to approve the agenda.
ORDER #FY20 – 1391 – APPROVAL OF MINUTES – Council agreed by consensus to approve the minutes of the October 14, 2019 meeting.
Lakewood had a very successful ROARoWeen event.  Safe schools week was celebrated with activities each day.  Speakers came to speak to students for Veteran’s Day.  Third grade collected for Unicef for their community project.
All site base members have received their training.
The September and October budget reports were reviewed and accepted.
The October accident report was reviewed and accepted.  Council reviewed and accepted  committee reports from the Curriculum & Instruction and Learning Environment  committees.
II.                   ORDER #FY20 – 1392 – ESS CALENDAR 2019-2020 APPROVAL – Council agreed by consensus to approve the ESS calendar 2019-2020.
ORDER #FY20 – 1393 – DISCIPLINE POLICY FIRST READ – Council agreed by consensus to approve the first read of the discipline policy.
ORDER #FY20 – 1394 – CONSULTATION TO HIRE – Council officially consulted to hire Ellen Parsons as instructional assistant II.
III.                The next regular meeting will be Monday, December 9, 2019 at 4:15 pm at Lakewood conference room.  Kathie Hamilton will serve as facilitator, Mary Waddell as resource person and Danielle Linder as scribe.

October 2019 Minutes


                                      LWES SBDM OCTOBER - 2019
           LAKEWOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
        OCTOBER 14, 2019      

Mrs. Clark called the meeting of the Lakewood School Council to order.  Council members present were  Kathie Hamilton, Danielle Linder, Mary Waddell, Angela Pike  and Shelee Clark.
I.                    ORDER #FY20 – 1385 – APPROVAL OF AGENDA – Council agreed by consensus to approve the agenda.
ORDER #FY20 – 1386 – APPROVAL OF MINUTES – Council agreed by consensus to approve the minutes of the September 9, 2019 meeting.
A new preschool class will be opening October 15.  It will meet on Tuesday and Thursday of each week.  Three Lakewood students earned awards at the state art contest.  Lakewood had a very successful Fall Festival that was attended by many.
State assessment data was reviewed by council.  Numerous MAP reports were discussed and reviewed at length by council members.
The September accident report was reviewed and accepted.  Council reviewed and accepted  committee reports from the Curriculum & Instruction,  Assessment, and Learning Environment  committees.
II.                   ORDER #FY20 – 1387 – CONSULTATION TO HIRE – Council officially consulted  to hire Amy Carr  to fill the part time preschool  teacher position.
ORDER #FY20 – 1388 – CONSULTATION TO HIRE – Council officially consulted to hire Jessica Kress  to fill the part time preschool assistant position.
III.                The next regular meeting will be Monday, November 11, 2019 at 4:15 pm at Lakewood conference room.  Danielle Linder will serve as facilitator, Kathie Hamilton as resource person and Angela Pike as scribe.

September 2019 Minutes


                                      LWES SBDM SEPTEMBER - 2019
           LAKEWOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
        SEPTEMBER 9, 2019    

Mrs. Clark called the meeting of the Lakewood School Council to order.  Council members present were  Kathie Hamilton, Danielle Linder, Mary Waddell, Angela Pike  and Shelee Clark.
I.                    ORDER #FY20 – 1378 – APPROVAL OF AGENDA – Council agreed by consensus to approve the agenda.
ORDER #FY20 – 1379 – APPROVAL OF MINUTES – Council agreed by consensus to approve the minutes of the August 12, 2019 meeting.
Mrs. Hodge has been nominated to do a lighthouse review at another school.  Sarah Newton will be the Innovate teacher at Lakewood.  Lakewood received  a comment free audit for 2018-2019 school year.  Watchdogs Pizza night and the volunteer orientation were very successful.  Volunteers also helped with spreading mulch on the playground area.  Students and staff enjoyed their first House Day with lots of information to learn about their house.
The August budget report and August accident reports were  reviewed and accepted.  Council reviewed and accepted  committee reports from the Efficiency and Curriculum & Instruction committees.
II.                  MAP testing window is still open.  Reports will be available next month.  All students in the school are receiving intervention or enrichment services during What I Need Time daily.
Council decided to change the regular meeting time to 4:15 each second Monday of the month.
III.                 ORDER #FY20 – 1380 – CONSULTATION TO HIRE – Council officially consulted  to hire Michelle Jenkins  to fill the primary teacher position.
ORDER #FY20 – 1381 – CONSULTATION TO HIRE – Council officially consulted to hire Ricki Nelson to fill the part time ESS tutor position.
ORDER #FY20 1382 –SCHOOL REPORT CARD APPROVAL – Council agreed by consensus to approve the school report card.
ORDER #FY20 – 1383 – CONSULTATION TO HIRE – Council officially consulted to hire Kelly Gatzke to fill the Instructional Assistant II position.

MAY 13, 2019   

Mrs. Clark called the meeting of the Lakewood School Council to order.  Council members present were Lori Howlett, Michelle Masterson, Curtis Nall, Kathie Hamilton, Chris Spears, and Shelee Clark.
I.                    ORDER #FY19 – 1360 – APPROVAL OF AGENDA – Council agreed by consensus to approve the agenda.
ORDER #FY19 – 1361 – APPROVAL OF MINUTES – Council agreed by consensus to approve the minutes of the April 8, 2019 meeting
Good news included Student Led Conferences, KPREP awards, successful Talent Show and 5th grade trip.  Carter Rinehart received second place in the ECTC Spelling Bee.  Kayla Miller and Lakewood Recycling club met goal to collect 175 pounds of plastic to make a bench.  Lucia Alvarez-Lopez was chosen to be featured in a future book by Tasha Eizinger.
The March and April budget reports  were reviewed and accepted.  The April accident report was reviewed and accepted.  Committee reports  were reviewed and accepted.  These included reports from the Curriculum & Instruction committee, the Efficiency committee and the Assessment committee.  KPREP window begins today.
II.                   SBDM teacher members for 2019-2020 will be Kathie Hamilton, Chris Spears and Angela Pike.  Parent elections will be held during awards ceremonies and May 28 and 29 school days.  Council agreed to renew KASC membership for 2019-2020.  Classroom assessment and primary policies were sent to the assessment committee for review.  The emergency plan and policy review was sent to Learning Environment committee for review.
III.                ORDER #FY19 – 1362—SECOND READ OF PARENT AND FAMILY ENGAGEMENT POLICY AND SCHOOL-FAMILY COMPACTCouncil agreed  by consensus to approve the second read of Parent and Family Engagement Policy and School-Family Compact
IV.                ORDER #FY1913632019-2020 TITLE I DRAFT BUDGET & PLAN APPROVAL – Council agreed by consensus to approve the 2019-2020 Title I draft budget and plan.
V.                  Council also approved staffing allocation revisions and CSIP revisions.
ORDER #FY19 – 1364 – 2019-2020 PER PUPIL DRAFT BUDGET APPROVAL – Council agreed by consensus to approve the 2019-2020 Per Pupil draft budget.
VI.                The next regular meeting will be Monday, June 10, 2019 at 4:00 pm at Lakewood conference room.  Michelle Masterson will serve as facilitator, Curtis Nall as resource person and Kathie Hamilton as scribe.

The Read to Achieve Grant was renewed for the 2019-2020 school year.  The Storybook Sockhop was attended by many families.  Lakewood’s academic team competed in District Governor’s Cup competition and placed second in quick recall. Several individual students also earned awards.  The VEX robotics team competed in Louisville for their last competition of the year.  The girls volleyball team participated in a district tournament.  The 4th grade competitive basketball team had an undefeated season.
II.                  Winter MAP data was reviewed by the committee. The Lighthouse Evidence binder was also shared with the committee and the Lighthouse Review visit was discussed. 
III.                The January budget report was reviewed and accepted.  The January and February accident reports were reviewed and accepted.  Committee reports were reviewed for efficiency, learning environment, assessment and curriculum and instruction committees. 
IV.                ORDER #FY19 - 1351 – STAFFING ALLOCATIONS 2019-2020 APPROVAL—Council reviewed and agreed by consensus to approve the 2019-2020 staffing allocations.
V.                  ORDER #FY19 – 1352 – PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN 2019-2020 APPROVAL – Council reviewed and agreed by consensus to approve the 2019-2020 Professional Development Plan.
VI.                ORDER #FY191353COUNCIL BY-LAWS FIRST READ—Council agreed by consensus to approve the first read of the council by-laws.
