May 2020 Minutes


                                            LWES SBDM MAY - 2020
           LAKEWOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
        MAY 11, 2020     

Mrs. Clark called the meeting of the Lakewood School Council to order.  The meeting was held via Google Meet due to the COVID-19 closure.  Council members present were  Kathie Hamilton, Angela Pike, Mary Waddell, Lori Howlett  and Shelee Clark.
I.                    ORDER #FY20 – 1423 – APPROVAL OF AGENDA – Council agreed by consensus to approve the agenda.
ORDER #FY20 – 1424 – APPROVAL OF MINUTES – Council agreed by consensus to approve the minutes of the April 13, 2020 regular meeting.
The Read to Achieve grant funding was confirmed for the 2020-21 school year despite budget cuts.
Mary Beth Hodge submitted the year end PBIS report to council.
Parent SBDM elections will be held May 20 both virtually and during item pickup.  Teacher SBDM members for 2020-21 will be Kathie Hamilton, Angela Pike and Lori Howlett.  Council agreed to renew KASC membership for 2020-21.
The April budget report was reviewed and accepted.  No accident report was available due to COVID-19 closure.  Council reviewed and accepted committee reports from the Curriculum & Instruction, Efficiency, Assessment, and Learning Environment committees. 
II.                   ORDER #FY20 – 1425 – CONSULTATION TO HIRE – Council officially consulted  to hire Debbie Anderson to fill a  certified 5th grade position.
ORDER #FY20 – 1426 – CONSULTATION TO HIRE – Council officially consulted to hire Iesha Eaton to fill a certified 5th grade position.
ORDER #FY20 – 1427 – CONSULTATION TO HIRE – Council officially consulted to hire Jessica Kress to fill the primary instructional assistant position.
ORDER #FY20 – 1428 – CONSULTATION TO HIRE – Council officially consulted to hire Devin Waldrup to fill the preschool assistant position.
ORDER #FY20 – 1429 – CONSULTATION TO HIRE – Council officially consulted to hire Isabella Singer to fill the primary certified vacancy.
ORDER #FY20 – 1430 – 2020-21 REVISED DRAFT BUDGET APPROVAL – Council agreed by consensus  to approve the 2020-21 revised draft budget.
III.                The next regular meeting will be Monday, June 8, 2020 at 4:15 pm.  The meeting will be conducted online.  Kathie Hamilton will serve as facilitator, Mary Waddell  as resource person and Angela Pike as scribe.

April 2020 Minutes

        APRIL 13, 2020   

Mrs. Clark called the meeting of the Lakewood School Council to order.  Council members present were  Kathie Hamilton, Angela Pike, Mary Waddell, Lori Howlett  and Shelee Clark.
I.                    ORDER #FY20 – 1419 – APPROVAL OF AGENDA – Council agreed by consensus to approve the agenda.
ORDER #FY20 – 1420 – APPROVAL OF MINUTES – Council agreed by consensus to approve the minutes of the March 9, 2020 regular meeting.
The Drive-Thru Hello Party was a great success with many families and Lakewood staff participating.
There will be no 2019-2020 KPREP testing.  Virtual interviews will be conducted for open positions at Lakewood.
The March accident report was reviewed and accepted.  February and March budget reports were reviewed and accepted.  No committee reports were available at this time. 
II.                   ORDER #FY20 – 1421 – SECOND READ OF FAMILY ENGAGEMENT POLICY AND SCHOOL COMPACT - Council agreed by consensus to approve the second read of the family engagement policy and school compact.
III.                The next regular meeting will be Monday, May 11, 2020 at 4:15 pm.  The meeting will be conducted online.  Angela Pike will serve as facilitator, Lori Howlett  as resource person and Mary Wadell as scribe.

March 2020 Updates


                                      LWES SBDM MARCH - 2020
           LAKEWOOD ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
        MARCH 9, 2020  

Mrs. Clark called the meeting of the Lakewood School Council to order.  Council members present were  Kathie Hamilton, Angela Pike, Mary Waddell, Lori Howlett  and Shelee Clark.
I.                    ORDER #FY20 – 1414 – APPROVAL OF AGENDA – Council agreed by consensus to approve the agenda.
ORDER #FY20 – 1415 – APPROVAL OF MINUTES – Council agreed by consensus to approve the minutes of the February 10, 2020 regular meeting.
The 5th grade boy’s basketball team were runners-up in the CHHS league.  Many people attended the Bruin breakfast.  Lakewood was represented well in the Jim Claypool conservation art contest.
The family engagement survey results were discussed by council.
The February accident report was reviewed and accepted.  Council reviewed and accepted  committee reports from the Assessment, Learning Environment, Efficiency and Curriculum and Instruction  committees. February budget report will be available at next meeting. 
II.                   ORDER #FY20 – 1416 –2020-21 DRAFT BUDGET APPROVAL – Council agreed by consensus to approve the 2020-21 Draft Budget.
ORDER #FY20 – 1417 – FIRST READ OF FAMILY ENGAGEMENT POLICY AND SCHOOL COMPACT - Council agreed by consensus to approve the first read of the family engagement policy and school compact.
Staffing allocations for 2020-21 were discussed by council.
III.                The next regular meeting will be Monday, April 13, 2020 at 4:15 pm at Lakewood conference room.  Mary Waddell will serve as facilitator, Kathie Hamilton  as resource person and Angela Pike as scribe.

                                      LWES SBDM FEBRUARY - 2020

        FEBRUARY 10, 2020    

Mrs. Clark called the meeting of the Lakewood School Council to order.  Council members present were  Kathie Hamilton, Angela Pike, Mary Waddell  and Shelee Clark.
I.                    ORDER #FY20 – 1409 – APPROVAL OF AGENDA – Council agreed by consensus to approve the agenda.
ORDER #FY20 – 1410 – APPROVAL OF MINUTES – Council agreed by consensus to approve the minutes of the January 13, 2020 regular meeting.
Lakewood placed second overall at the Governor’s Cup District competition.  Angela Pike shared that she had received a grant for a free field trip to the Frasier History Museum for the fourth grade.  Rhett Edlin was the school spelling bee winner.
Council conducted an overview of the winter MAP data that included proficiency, growth and fluency reports.
The January  budget report  was reviewed and accepted.
The January accident report was reviewed and accepted.  Council reviewed and accepted  committee reports from the Assessment, Learning Environment and Curriculum and Instruction  committees. 
II.                   ORDER #FY20 – 1411 –2020-21 PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN APPROVAL – Council agreed by consensus to approve the 2020-21 Professional Development Plan.
ORDER #FY20 – 1412 – FRC PLAN APPROVAL- Council agreed by consensus to approve the FRC Plan.  Further information will follow in March.
III.                The next regular meeting will be Monday, March 9, 2020 at 4:15 pm at Lakewood conference room.  Kathie Hamilton will serve as facilitator, Angela Pike as resource person and Danielle Linder as scribe.
